The dB Technologies FMX12 is a professional 12-inch active stage monitor designed for performers, live sound engineers, venues and rental companies. Its coaxial two-way design, powerful Class-D amplification and advanced digital processing deliver focused, highly intelligible monitoring across a wide range of live applications.
The integrated amplifier provides 600W RMS and 1200W peak power, producing a maximum sound pressure level of 128dB. This gives the FMX12 the output required for demanding stages while its compact wedge-shaped enclosure helps minimise the amount of floor space used around the performer.
Coaxial Driver Design with Rotatable Horn
The FMX12 combines a 12-inch low-frequency driver with a 2-inch voice coil and a 1-inch exit compression driver with a 1.3-inch voice coil. Its coaxial configuration positions the high and low-frequency drivers on the same acoustic axis, helping produce consistent coverage and clear reproduction of vocals and instruments.
A custom rotatable horn provides a standard coverage pattern of 60° horizontal by 90° vertical. Rotating the horn changes this to 90° horizontal by 60° vertical, allowing the dispersion to be adapted to different stage positions and monitoring requirements.
The frequency response extends from 52Hz to 19kHz at -10dB, providing full-range reproduction for vocals, guitars, keyboards, electronic instruments and playback material.
Advanced DSP and FIR Filtering
An integrated 28/56-bit DSP processor uses linear phase FIR filters to optimise the response of the speaker. Peak, RMS and thermal limiting help protect the drivers and amplifier when the monitor is being used at higher output levels.
Eight selectable DSP presets allow the response to be matched to different performers, programme material and cabinet positions:
- Live Monitor
- Playback Monitor
- Coupled Monitors
- Male Singer
- Female Singer
- Antifeedback
- Live on Stand
- Playback on Stand
Dedicated presets are available for vocal monitoring, music playback, using two monitors together and operating the FMX12 vertically on a speaker stand. The Antifeedback preset applies an equalisation profile intended to help reduce the risk of feedback in live monitoring applications.
Mic/Line Input and XLR Link Output
A balanced XLR input can accept either a microphone or line-level signal, selected using the Mic/Line switch on the amplifier panel. An input sensitivity control allows the incoming level to be adjusted to suit the connected source.
The balanced XLR Link output can pass the signal to another active monitor or PA speaker. This is particularly useful when using a pair of FMX12 monitors or distributing the same monitor mix to multiple powered speakers.
Stage Monitor or Pole-Mounted PA Speaker
The plywood cabinet is fitted with a full metal grille to protect the drivers during regular stage and touring use. An integrated handle on the underside of the enclosure makes the monitor easier to carry and position.
A 36mm pole socket allows the FMX12 to be mounted vertically on a suitable speaker stand. Dedicated Live on Stand and Playback on Stand DSP presets optimise the response for this position, allowing the FMX12 to operate as a compact full-range PA speaker when required.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does the dB Technologies FMX12 require a separate amplifier?
A: No. The FMX12 is an active stage monitor with an integrated Class-D amplifier delivering 600W RMS and 1200W peak power.
Q: Can I connect a microphone directly to the FMX12?
A: Yes. The balanced XLR input can accept a microphone directly when the input switch is set to Mic. It can also accept a mixer, instrument or other line-level source when set to Line.
Q: What DSP presets are available on the FMX12?
A: The eight presets are Live Monitor, Playback Monitor, Coupled Monitors, Male Singer, Female Singer, Antifeedback, Live on Stand and Playback on Stand.
Q: Can two FMX12 monitors be connected together?
A: Yes. The balanced XLR Link output can pass the incoming signal to the XLR input of another active monitor or speaker.
Q: Can the FMX12 be mounted on a speaker stand?
A: Yes. The FMX12 has a 36mm pole socket and dedicated Live on Stand and Playback on Stand DSP presets for vertical operation.
Q: Does the FMX12 have Bluetooth?
A: No. The FMX12 does not have built-in Bluetooth. Audio is connected through its balanced XLR Mic/Line input.
Q: Can the coverage pattern be changed?
A: Yes. The rotatable horn provides 60° horizontal by 90° vertical coverage in its standard position. Rotating the horn changes the coverage to 90° horizontal by 60° vertical.
Q: Is the FMX12 suitable for vocal monitoring?
A: Yes. Its coaxial design, high maximum output and dedicated Male Singer, Female Singer and Antifeedback presets make it particularly suitable for live vocal monitoring.
