Microphone cables for live sound and recording
A suitable microphone cable provides the connection between your microphone and mixer, audio interface or compatible PA input. Whether you are preparing a vocal setup, wiring a rehearsal room or connecting several performers on stage, choose leads that suit your equipment and working space.
Prebeat’s range includes XLR male-to-female microphone cables, female XLR-to-mono-jack leads and specialist JTS cables for compatible equipment.
Choose the right connection and length
For a microphone with a standard three-pin XLR output, an XLR female-to-male lead is the usual choice when connecting to an XLR microphone input. If your equipment uses a jack input, check its wiring and microphone compatibility before selecting an alternative lead.
Measure the full cable route, allowing for microphone stand height, movement and access around the stage. A little spare length helps avoid tension on sockets, while a lead that is unnecessarily long can make packing and cable management more difficult.
Multicore cables and stage boxes
An analogue multicore stage box groups several audio connections into one main cable run. This can simplify the route between performers and the mixing position, particularly for bands, drum kits and larger live sound setups.
Browse stage boxes and cable drum formats with different channel arrangements. Check the number of microphone inputs and return channels separately: the total channel count does not always mean every connection serves the same purpose.
Microphone cable reels for custom assemblies
Bulk microphone cable is useful for making leads to specific lengths or planning fixed installations. The range includes screened two-core cable, starquad cable and selected LSZH installation cable.
Match the cable’s construction, diameter and intended use to your project, then choose suitable connectors for termination. Consider how often the cable will be handled and whether it will remain installed or be packed away after each event.
For other audio connections, explore our signal cables. For lighting control, browse dedicated DMX cables, or visit the full Accessories, Cables & Cases range.
