Moving head lights use motorised pan and tilt to direct light around a performance space, creating anything from slow sweeps to energetic programmed sequences. They give mobile DJs, lighting operators and event companies flexible options for changing the appearance of a show.
Prebeat’s range includes fixtures from Equinox, Chauvet, Showtec, ADJ, Algam Lighting and elumen8, with options for compact mobile rigs and larger venue installations.
Beam moving heads produce concentrated shafts of light for defined aerial effects. Spot moving heads suit projected patterns and more focused effects, with selected models offering gobo wheels, rotating gobos and prisms.
Wash moving heads spread colour across stages, performers and surrounding surfaces. Zoom-equipped models let you adjust the beam width for different positions and coverage requirements. Hybrid fixtures combine several functions, providing additional flexibility where space or fixture numbers are limited.
Choose the type according to the effect you need, then compare output, beam angle and operating distance.
Gobos create projected shapes and patterns, while prisms multiply the beam or image for a broader effect. Selected spot fixtures include motorised focus to sharpen projections and replaceable gobos for greater creative choice.
Colour systems also vary. Some moving heads use a colour wheel, while others offer LED colour mixing or CMY mixing. Check each fixture’s specification to find the combination of colours, patterns and movement that suits your show.
Selected moving heads include automatic programmes, sound activation and master/slave operation for straightforward setups. DMX control provides access to individual functions, allowing you to programme positions, colours and effects using compatible lighting control equipment.
Check the available DMX modes and channel requirements when choosing a controller. More detailed modes can provide additional control but use more channels per fixture.
Consider ceiling height, mounting position, fixture weight and transport requirements alongside light output. Compact models can make mobile setups easier to manage, while larger fixtures may offer additional optical features. For outdoor events, select a suitably rated model and follow its stated operating conditions.
Combine moving heads with LED PAR cans for background colour or complementary DJ lighting for additional effects. Complete your system with appropriate DMX cables and suitably fitted product cases for transport.
