The Studiomaster Sense 12A+ is a compact 12-inch active stage monitor featuring a durable painted cabinet finish. It is designed for performers, bands, rehearsal rooms, venues and mobile sound systems requiring clear foldback from an enclosure built for regular professional use.

The painted finish is the main difference between the Sense 12A+ and the standard carpet-covered Sense12A. Both versions share the same coaxial driver arrangement, amplification, DSP processing and audio connections.

A fixed 43° cabinet angle directs the sound towards a performer when the monitor is positioned on the floor. Its compact coaxial construction also reduces the amount of stage space required compared with a conventional separate-driver enclosure.

Coaxial Drivers with 80° Coverage

The Sense 12A+ combines a 12-inch low-frequency driver with a centrally positioned neodymium high-frequency compression driver. Aligning the high and low-frequency sections on the same acoustic axis helps produce a focused sound and consistent tonal response across the coverage area.

The 12-inch woofer has a 65mm voice coil, while the high-frequency compression driver uses a 44mm voice coil. Coverage is 80° horizontal by 80° vertical, providing a wide and even monitoring area for vocals and instruments.

Its frequency response extends from 55Hz to 20kHz, making it suitable for vocal monitoring, guitars, keyboards, electronic instruments and music playback.

Dual Class-D Amplification

Built-in dual Class-D amplification provides a total of 300W RMS output. The low-frequency driver receives 260W RMS, with a separate 40W RMS amplifier powering the high-frequency section.

The Sense 12A+ is rated at 600W programme power and 1200W peak, with a maximum SPL of 127dB. This gives the monitor the output required for live performance while retaining a relatively compact footprint.

Integrated DSP Processing

The onboard 24-bit, 48kHz DSP provides equalisation, Live and Monitor operating modes and adjustable delay. This allows the response to be adapted according to the position and intended use of the speaker.

Monitor mode is designed for conventional floor placement, while Live mode supports vertical use as a compact PA speaker. DSP delay provides additional alignment control when the Sense 12A+ is being incorporated into a larger sound system.

Inputs and Audio Output

Two combined XLR and jack inputs allow signals to be connected from a mixing console or other compatible equipment. A separate 3.5mm input provides a convenient connection for suitable playback devices.

An XLR output provides an onward audio connection for linking another active stage monitor or powered PA speaker.

Floor Monitor or Compact PA Speaker

The Sense 12A+ can be used as a conventional floor wedge or mounted vertically using its built-in 35mm pole socket. This allows it to operate as a compact front-of-house speaker, side-fill monitor or additional powered speaker.

A strong steel grille protects the drivers during regular transportation and stage use, while the durable painted finish provides a practical alternative to the carpet-covered standard version.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between the Sense 12A+ and the Sense12A?

A: The Sense 12A+ has a durable painted cabinet finish, while the standard Sense12A has a carpet-covered enclosure. The driver arrangement, amplifier power, DSP functions, connections, dimensions and weight are otherwise the same.

Q: Does the Sense 12A+ require a separate amplifier?

A: No. It has built-in dual Class-D amplification delivering 300W RMS, divided between 260W for the low-frequency driver and 40W for the high-frequency section.

Q: What DSP functions are available?

A: The integrated 24-bit, 48kHz DSP provides equalisation, Live and Monitor operating modes and adjustable delay.

Q: Can the Sense 12A+ be used as a PA speaker?

A: Yes. Its 35mm pole socket allows it to be mounted vertically on a suitable speaker stand, while the Live DSP mode supports PA speaker applications.

Q: What audio inputs are provided?

A: The monitor has two combined XLR and jack inputs together with an additional 3.5mm audio input.

Q: Can another powered speaker be connected?

A: Yes. The XLR output provides an onward audio connection for another compatible active monitor or PA speaker.

Q: What is the floor monitoring angle?

A: The Sense 12A+ has a fixed 43° wedge angle designed for close-range performer monitoring.

Q: Does the Sense 12A+ include Bluetooth?

A: No. Bluetooth is not included. Audio sources are connected through the XLR/jack or 3.5mm inputs.
