Four-Channel Professional Wireless Receiver

The JTS R-4 is a professional four-channel UHF wireless receiver capable of operating with four compatible transmitters simultaneously. This 606.5 to 638MHz version is designed for multi-microphone systems used in theatres, schools, places of worship, conference venues, live productions, rental systems and permanent installations.

Four receiver channels are housed within a single 19-inch 1U rackmount chassis, creating a compact and organised alternative to installing several separate receivers. Compatible JTS handheld, bodypack or plug-on transmitters are required and available separately.

Diversity Reception and Automatic Frequency Scanning

Diversity reception uses two antenna paths to help maintain a stable RF connection as performers and presenters move around the venue. Pilot-tone squelch and noise muting reduce unwanted noise when a compatible transmitter is switched off or its signal is unavailable.

The receiver covers 606.5 to 638MHz with a 36MHz tuning bandwidth. PLL synthesised frequency control, preset frequency groups, user-defined groups and automatic scanning make it easier to identify and configure suitable operating frequencies.

JTS REMOSET Transmitter Synchronisation

JTS REMOSET technology transfers frequency and operating settings from the receiver to compatible transmitters. Once the receiver channels have been configured, up to four transmitters can receive their corresponding settings from a single REMOSET command.

This simplifies setup when several microphones are being prepared for a performance, presentation or event. Every transmitter must be a compatible JTS model operating within the same 606.5 to 638MHz frequency range.

Individual and Mixed Audio Outputs

Each of the four receiver channels has an independent balanced XLR output, allowing every microphone to be connected to a separate mixer channel. This provides individual control over microphone level, EQ, processing and routing.

A balanced XLR mixed output and an unbalanced 6.35mm mixed output are also provided. These carry the combined signal from all four receiver channels and are useful when the microphones need to feed a single mixer or amplifier input.

Output level, volume and XLR attenuation can be adjusted from the receiver’s controls to suit the connected audio equipment.

Clear System Monitoring

The front-panel LCD and LED meters provide detailed information for each receiver channel. Available information includes:

  • Selected group and channel
  • Operating frequency
  • Active Antenna A or B
  • RF signal level
  • Audio signal level
  • Transmitter battery condition
  • Microphone mute status
  • Output level and attenuation
  • Device identification

A key-lock function helps prevent settings from being changed accidentally during an event or installation.

Antenna and Power Cascading

RF antenna outputs allow several R-4 receivers to share the same antenna signals through a cascade. The user guide permits up to ten receiver chassis within the physical RF cascade, but this does not mean that all 40 wireless channels can necessarily operate simultaneously. The usable channel count depends on frequency coordination, local RF conditions and licensing.

AC power can also be linked between compatible receivers using the appropriate optional power cables. Suitable BNC and power-linking cables are required when expanding the system.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does the JTS R-4 include any microphones or transmitters?
A: No. This product is the four-channel receiver only. Compatible JTS handheld, bodypack or plug-on transmitters operating within the same 606.5 to 638MHz frequency range are required separately.

Q: How many wireless microphones can the R-4 operate?
A: The receiver can operate with four compatible wireless transmitters simultaneously, with independent control and audio output for each channel.

Q: Does this receiver require a UK wireless microphone licence?
A: Yes. The UK-wide shared Channel 38 licence covers 606.5 to 613.5MHz. Frequencies elsewhere within the receiver’s 606.5 to 638MHz tuning range require an appropriate Ofcom PMSE assignment and are subject to availability. Always confirm the current licensing requirements before use.

Q: Can each microphone be connected to a separate mixer channel?
A: Yes. Four independent balanced XLR outputs allow each receiver channel to be connected separately. Combined XLR and 6.35mm outputs are also available when a single mixed feed is preferred.

Q: Can several JTS R-4 receivers share the same antennas?
A: Yes. The RF cascade connections allow the Antenna A and Antenna B signals to be passed through up to ten R-4 receiver units, reducing the number of separate antennas required. This is the physical antenna-cascade limit and does not guarantee that all 40 wireless channels can operate simultaneously. The usable channel count depends on frequency coordination, local RF conditions and the frequencies covered by your licence.

Q: Will the JTS R-4 fit into a standard equipment rack?
A: Yes. The receiver uses a standard 19-inch rackmount chassis and occupies 1U of rack space.
