Professional Bodypack Transmitter for the JTS R-4

The JTS R-4TBM is a professional UHF bodypack transmitter designed for use with the JTS R-4 four-channel wireless receiver. This version operates from 606.5 to 638MHz and must be paired with an R-4 receiver covering the same frequency range.

Its 4-pin mini XLR input accepts a wide selection of compatible JTS headset, lavalier and instrument microphones. This makes the R-4TBM suitable for theatre productions, presentations, schools, places of worship, fitness instruction, live performance and other applications where a discreet hands-free wireless microphone is required.

The microphone and R-4 receiver are not included and must be purchased separately.

REMOSET Pairing and PLL Frequency Control

JTS REMOSET technology allows frequency and operating settings to be transferred from a compatible R-4 receiver to the bodypack. This makes it quicker to configure the transmitter as part of a multi-channel wireless system.

PLL synthesised frequency control provides accurate tuning throughout the operating range. Frequency, group, channel, input gain, REMOSET ID and RF output settings can also be adjusted directly from the transmitter.

The lock-on function prevents controls from being changed accidentally while the bodypack is being worn, helping protect the selected frequency and audio settings during a performance or event.

Adjustable RF Output

Selectable high and low RF power settings allow the transmitter to be configured for different operating environments and licensing requirements.

The lower setting can be useful in smaller venues or multi-channel installations where transmitters and receivers are positioned relatively close together. The higher setting may provide additional operating range where permitted, although the most suitable setting will depend on the venue, antenna system and authorised frequencies.

Microphone Input and Audio Performance

The 4-pin mini XLR input supports compatible JTS headset, lapel and instrument microphones. A 50Hz to 18kHz audio frequency response allows the bodypack to handle speech, vocals and compatible instruments.

Input gain can be adjusted to suit the connected microphone and sound source. Correct gain adjustment helps achieve a clear signal while avoiding distortion from excessive input levels.

Compact Aluminium Bodypack

The R-4TBM uses an aluminium-alloy chassis for improved durability without adding unnecessary weight. Measuring just 62 x 80.3 x 22.6mm and weighing 93g, it can be attached discreetly to clothing, a belt or a costume.

The LCD displays the selected group, channel and frequency, together with battery condition, username and gain information. This allows important settings to be checked directly from the transmitter.

AA Battery Operation and Charging

The transmitter operates from two AA batteries. Standard alkaline batteries can be used, or suitable rechargeable NiMH batteries can be fitted for use with a compatible JTS charging station.

The R-4TBM supports slot-in charging with the JTS CH-2 and CH-8 charging systems when suitable rechargeable batteries are installed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Which receiver is compatible with the JTS R-4TBM?
A: This transmitter is designed for the JTS R-4 four-channel receiver. The receiver must be the matching 606.5 to 638MHz version.

Q: Is a headset or lavalier microphone included?
A: No. This product includes the R-4TBM bodypack transmitter only. A compatible JTS microphone with a 4-pin mini XLR connector is required separately.

Q: How many R-4TBM transmitters can one R-4 receiver operate?
A: The JTS R-4 has four receiver channels and can operate with up to four compatible transmitters simultaneously. Each transmitter must be assigned to its own correctly coordinated frequency.

Q: What batteries does the R-4TBM use?
A: It uses two AA batteries. Alkaline batteries can be used, or suitable rechargeable NiMH batteries can be fitted when the transmitter will be charged using a compatible JTS charging station.

Q: Does this transmitter require a UK wireless microphone licence?
A: Yes. The UK-wide shared Channel 38 licence covers 606.5 to 613.5MHz. Frequencies elsewhere within the transmitter’s 606.5 to 638MHz tuning range require the appropriate Ofcom PMSE assignment and are subject to availability.
