Replacement Speaker Drivers for PA Cabinets
Replacing a damaged speaker driver can help restore a cabinet’s performance without replacing the complete speaker. Choosing the correct component is essential to retaining the sound and electrical characteristics of the original system.
Prebeat’s range includes woofers, bass and midrange drivers, compression drivers and crossover components. Find replacements for selected Citronic and QTX cabinets, alongside Fane drivers for suitable repairs and speaker cabinet projects.
Bass, Midrange and Subwoofer Drivers
Different drivers perform different jobs. A bass and midrange driver handles a broader part of the sound in a full-range PA cabinet, while a dedicated subwoofer driver is designed for low-frequency reproduction.
Our selection includes compact drivers and larger options for PA speakers and bass cabinets. When choosing, consider frequency response, sensitivity and power handling alongside diameter. For a new enclosure or an alternative replacement, the driver’s acoustic parameters must also suit the cabinet’s volume and tuning.
High-Frequency and Compression Drivers
High-frequency drivers reproduce the upper frequencies that contribute to vocal clarity and musical detail. The range includes replacement HF units for selected Citronic speakers and Fane compression drivers.
Check the horn connection, mounting arrangement, impedance and recommended crossover frequency before selecting a replacement. A driver that physically attaches to a horn may still have different electrical or acoustic requirements.
Choosing a Compatible Replacement Speaker Driver
Start with the original cabinet model and driver part number wherever possible. Confirm the nominal impedance, mounting dimensions, cut-out size and available depth, as well as the manufacturer’s replacement recommendations.
Matching the diameter and wattage alone does not establish compatibility. A higher power rating will not automatically make a speaker louder, and changing impedance can affect the amplifier load and crossover behaviour. Compare equivalent power ratings, keeping continuous, programme and peak figures separate.
Model-specific replacements provide a useful starting point, but check the exact cabinet version before ordering.
Crossovers and Speaker System Components
A passive crossover divides the amplified signal between drivers in a multi-way speaker. Replacement crossover boards need to suit the drivers’ impedance, operating ranges and the intended cabinet design.
